The Lakes Conference has named its 2012 All-Conference
baseball honorees, and a dozen area athletes found themselves on the first- or
second-teams. Spirit
Lake, after an 18-win
season, placed six players on the all-conference squads. Senior Casey Jones was
a unanimous selection to the first-team list for outfielders. Junior Brandon
Stoll, who paced the Indians in batting average, hits, home runs, and RBI, was
chosen as a utility player, and fellow junior Nic Amundson made the first-team
as a catcher. Three more juniors earned second-team honors. Paul Brown led the
team in wins and was selected as a pitcher, while Cody Poock and Andrew Ites earned
accolades as outfielders. Spencer’s Taylor Tatman, a senior, led the Tigers as
a first-team selection, with junior Weston Glienke placed on the second-team
infield. Emmetsburg, which improved by seven wins this summer, finished with
seniors Brady Berkland and Ryan Kliegl on the first-team as an infielder and
outfielder, respectively. Teammate Jake Jackson earned second-team accolades. And
Estherville-Lincoln Central’s Joe Clayton, a senior, was recognized as a second-team
infielder.
