Indians In Control Against EHawks, Pioneers Fall to Sheldon (Baseball)

The Spirit Lake Indians completed a sweep of Emmetsburg in Lakes Conference baseball Wednesday night with a 7-0 victory. Paul Brown earned the win on the hill, striking out seven and allowing just four hits. The freshman righthander received help from his supporting cast on defense, as Spirit Lake did not commit a single error, putting together what coach Jason Schneider believes might be their best team effort of the season.

Mitch Peschon went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. The junior continues to hit well as he keeps a simple approach at the plate.

Spirit Lake is now 8-10 on the season and 3-6 in league play. The EHawks remain winless in the Lakes.

Okoboji found it tough goings against Sheldon in Milford, losing 15-4. James Halbur led the Pioneer batters with two hits and two runs driven in. Ray Zalabowski took to the loss despite allowing just one earned run and striking out seven. Okoboji travels to Central Lyon tonight.
