South Sioux City was the site of another major test for the cross country teams of Spirit Lake, and once again the both teams stepped up to the challenge. Senior Keith Byers ran to a first place time of 16:07, finishing steps ahead of teammate Will Norris, who crossed the finish line in 16:17 to grab second-place. Those two helped propel the Indians to a second-place team finish with 49 points, trailing only Sioux Falls Lincoln, who tallied a remarkable 22 points. The girls came away with a sixth-place finish as a team with 122 points. Dondi Schmidt was the lone Spirit Lake runner to break 17:00, taking 17th place in 16:38.
