Spirit Lake rallied from a seven run deficit to score eight unanswered runs and defeat Armstrong-Ringsted 8-7 in non-conference baseball Tuesday night. The momentum switched when the Indians were forced to make a change on the mound and Tyler Dean held the Mustangs scoreless for the remainder of the game.
Cody Poock finished with three RBI and Nik Erickson scored two runs for the Indians, who have won five straight games.
The softball Indians notched a non-conference victory as well, shutting down Sheldon 6-0. Sophomore Cara Vale was the winning pitcher as Spirit Lake reaches 18 wins on the season
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn used two huge innings on offense and solid pitching from senior pitcher Kayla Orthmann to defeat South O’Brien 15-3 in four innings. Orthmann also led the Hawks offensively with two hits, three runs scored, and two driven in, while junior Onica Jacobs had two hits, scored two runs, and had three RBI.
Also last night, Okoboji won at Sibly-Ocheyedan 3-2 and Emmetsburg needed only four innings in 12-0 decision over Laurens to move to 21-2 on the season. Jenny Hoch notched three RBI and Maddison Woodruff struck out eight in a one-hitter for the win.
