Spirit Lake baseball returned to Lakes Conference play on Friday and earned a 7-0 win on their home diamond over Cherokee. The Indians have 16 wins to five losses on the year and own a 6-2 mark in the league.
Also in the Lakes Conference, Cherokee topped Estherville-Lincoln Central, 6-4.
For the second straight night, the Okoboji baseball team outhit it’s opponent but ended up with the loss, falling 10-5 to Siouxland Conference rival Sibley-Ocheyedan on Friday. The Pioneers committed six errors in the game, three of which led to four runs in the first inning. Zach Jones smashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the first, and scored again in the third. Brian Dubois went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs scored. The senior has now reached safely in eleven straight plate appeances, a streak that spans three games. Dubois also took the loss on the hill, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. The Pioneers have now lost six consecutive games, five in conference, and have an overall record of 7-13, with a 4-6 mark in the league.
