Indians Enjoy Success in First Cross Country Meet of Season

The first cross country meet of the fall sports season is already in the books for several northwest Iowa schools. The Spirit Lake boys, rated as the top team in Class 2A, opened with a team win at the Spencer Invite, edging out second place Storm Lake by 13 points. The Spencer Tigers finished fifth on their home track. Alec Baldwin, Will Norris, and Keith Byers finished 2-3-4 in the meet to lead the Indians. On the girls side, Algona came out on top, narrowly clipping the hometown Tigers by three points. Spirit Lake finished third overall and Estherville-Lincoln Central/Armstrong-Ringsted came in fourth. Setting the pace for the Indians was Brianna Brunsvold with a fourth-place finish and KJ Veldman came in sixth, while two others finished in the top-20.
