Indians End Regular With Win, Pioneers Take Loss (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

The Spirit Lake girls made it to double-digit wins in Lakes Conference play behind a 35-31 defeat of Emmetsburg on Senior Night. Leah Hilpipre and KJ Veldman paced the Indians attack with a dozen points each, combining to hit five three-pointers. Paige Naig was the game’s top scorer with thirteen on five field goals for the E-Hawks, who end conference play 4-10. They will play at Estherville-Lincoln Central on Saturday in the Class 2A girl’s tournament. That game will be on Y100. The Indians finish third in the league at 10-4 and host Spencer a week from today, February 16. That game will be on KUOO Campus Radio.

At MOC-Floyd Valley, the Okoboji Pioneers allowed 47 first-half points to the Dutch, and went on to lose 77-39. Skylar Hansen dropped in twelve points to lead the Pioneers. The Dutch, at 18-0 in the Siouxland, are conference champs. Okoboji ends the regular season 5-16 overall and 2-16 in conference play. They will travel to Sioux Central on Saturday to battle the Rebels in the first round of the girl’s 2A tournament. That game can be heard live on Q102.
