In their Lakes Conference baseball opener, Spirit Lake
batters showed plenty of patience at the plate in drawing ten walks en route to
10-4 win at Emmetsburg. The Indians only tallied three hits, which came from
Nick Wetzler, Cody Poke, and Tate Hanson. Brandon Stoll was the winning pitcher, surrendering two
earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts. The Indians improve to 3-1
overall and 1-0 in league play. They return to the field Friday against
Cherokee. Emmetsburg’s Tayler Wegner got the loss despite just two earned runs
allowed. The E-Hawks defense committed five errors. The loss drops Emmetsburg
to 1-2 this summer and 0-1 in the conference. They play at Okoboji on Thursday,
a game that can be heard on Q102.
