Indians Duo Honored For Academic and Athletic Achievements

Two seniors from Spirit Lake’s boys basketball team are receiving postseason recognition for their efforts on the court and in the classroom. Sawyer Harms was selected as an Academic All-State honoree by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association. Harms is one of 22 student-athletes chosen throughout the state of Iowa and will be recognized at halftime of the Class 3A championship game Saturday night in Des Moines. To receive the honor, Harms fulfilled the academic requirements of carrying a 3.25 GPA, having a composite 25 ACT score, and being in the top quarter of his class. On the court, Harms averaged 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds.

His teammate, Adam Dau, was selected as an Academic All-District player by the IBCA, fulfilling the same academic requirements. Dau also scored 5.7 points a game and grabbed 4.1 boards a contest.
