Two home runs in the sixth inning broke open a 4-4 ballgame between Spirit Lake and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, allowing the Indians to complete a come-from-behind 7-4 win. Spirit Lake trailed 4-2 after four innings, but scored twice in the fifth, then got a solo homer from Dalton Kelley and a two-run blast from Nik Erickson to rally for the win. Erickson and Tyler Dean finished with a combined four RBI and five runs scored. Sophomore Zach Herrig threw seven innings for the win, striking out six and not issuing a single walk. HMS starter Matt Queck took the loss, allowing seven runs and struck on six. Queck also had two runs driven, while Trey Evans scored two. The Indians are now 3-1 and the Hawks drop to 2-4.
Okoboji notched five runs in the second inning and a four-run sixth en route to a 12-4 win over Emmetsburg. Ray Zalabowski smacked a three-run homer as part of a 2-for-2 day at the plate with four RBI and three runs scored. Alex Koepp, Brian Dubois, and James Halbur all registered multiple hits, while Halbur also grabbed the win with a nine hit, four run, eight strikeout performance.
