Saturday night kicked off the opening round of the Class 2A girls basketball tournament and Spirit Lake defeated Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 54-31. Mary Brown scored 12 while Jamie Kohlhasse added 10 off the bench for the Indians. Spirit Lake will take on conference rival Estherville-Lincoln Central on Tuesday night in Estherville.
