It was a three-team race at the Lakes Conference wrestling meet in Spencer on Friday with the hometown Tigers narrowly nipping rival Emmetsburg for the meet title. Spencer tallied 198.5 points, while the E-Hawks were right behind with 196.5. Seventh-ranked Spirit Lake Park finished third at 171.5, Estherville-Lincoln Central ended up fourth with 149.5, followed by Western Christian (115), Storm Lake (106.5), and LeMars and Cherokee tied for seventh at 101. In Sioux Center, the Siouxland Conference’s regular season dual champion ran away with the league meet on Friday, placing ten grapplers in the top two. Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley finished the day with 228.5 points, well out of front of MOC-Floyd Valley at 164 points. Sheldon/South O’Brien came in third (161.5), followed by Central Lyon/George-Little Rock in fourth (158), and Sibley-Ocheyedan fifth (136). Okoboji, which finished second in the conference in dual competition, struggled to 135.5 points and the sixth spot in the standings.
