Several Minnesota high school basketball teams are participating in holiday tournaments this week. In boys action, Jackson County Central won their opener of the Blue Earth Area Tournament, defeating the hosts 65-37. Fairmont advanced in the Bethany College Tournament with a 69-60 decision over Maple River. Round Lake-Brewster notched an opening round win over Mountain Lake Christian 47-41 at the Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin Tournament, and Martin County West fell to Minneapolis North 62-50 in the Windom Area Tournament.
In girls hoops, Fairmont defeated Mankato Loyola 66-35 at Loyola’s own tournament, while Round Lake-Brewster moved on in the Mounds View Tournament with a 55-34 defeat of Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin.
