Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn enjoyed a very successful day at a multi-team dual wrestling tournament hosted by Western Christian on Saturday. The Hawks finished the day with a 4-1 record, with the lone setback coming in a 63-14 dual to Siouxland Conference champion Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley. HMS defeated West Monona, 43-15, Alta/Aurelia, 42-38, Laurens-Marathon, 48-27, and the host Wolfpack, 42-39. Individually, Heath Nagel (132) and fifth-ranked Brett Flynn (152) both went 5-0, with two pin fall victories each. No. 6 Nick Drenth (126) and Daniel Elgersma (106) each posted four win days, and Drenth tallied a trio of pins. Wrestlers with three-win days included Joseph Rivera (113), Dakota Goodvin (120), Hank Voss (138), and Dakota Drenth (145). Voss and Drenth each had a win by fall.
