After leading his team to a 7-3 record and into the playoffs for the first time since 2008, Harris-Lake Park coach Lane Gunderson has been named the 8-man football District 2 Coach of the Year. Seven of his players also received postseason honors. Named to the First Team All-District team is senior OL Nathan Kyle, senior LB Brady Nissen, junior utility Colin Brons, junior TE Eli Ihnen, and junior OL Tanner Hiveley. Junior WR Kade Heikens and senior DE Connor Gunderson were given honorable mention accolades. Graettinger-Terril, who also made the postseason in 2011, found themselves with five players being recognized. Senior RB Trent Lundgren, senior OL Mitch Girres, and junior DB Blaze Alesch wound up with First Team All-District honors. Honorable mention went to senior WR Colin Leiting, senior CB Tyler Dalen, and senior LB Tym Hart. Gunderson and Brons of HLP, along with Lundgren, Quinn Parker, Zach Chicoine, and Kyler Dose from GT, were also given Academic All-District honors for GPAs of 3.5 or better.
