Spirit Lake made just four field goals Thursday night in a 51-25 setback at second-ranked Western Christian in Lakes Conference boys basketball. Mitch Peschon had one of the baskets, a three-pointer, en route to a team-high eight points. The Wolfpack had three players reach double-digits. The Indians are now 6-12 overall and 4-8 in conference. They will host Estherville-Lincoln Central tonight on KUOO.
Emmetsburg suffered a third consecutive loss last night, falling 69-58 at Storm Lake in conference play. The E-Hawks Nick Wuebker led all scorers with 17 points. Emmetsburg falls to 8-4 in the Lakes, and will travel to Western Christian this evening on Y100.
Okoboji held a four-point advantage at the half against Rock Valley, but the Pioneers couldn’t hang on in a 50-43 loss in the Siouxland Conference. James Halbur tallied 14 points, while Brian Dubois had a dozen points, to go along with eight rebounds and eight blocked shots. Okoboji is now winless through 14 league games and will welcome Boyden-Hull to Milford tonight on Q102.
At Harris-Lake Park, the Wolves continued their pursuit of a Cornbelt Conference championship with a 50-34 defeat of West Bend-Mallard. HLP opened up with a thirteen point advantage through the first quarter and held the Wolverines to just eleven first half points. Eli Ihnen paced the Wolves with 17 points. Harris-Lake Park now sits at 8-0 in conference and 16-3 overall.
