Harris-Lake Park traveled to George-Little Rock Thursday night for a non conference boys and girls double header. In the girls contest, HLP jumped out to a 12 point lead early only to see that lead erased and trail by 2 midway thru the 4th quarter. With points difficult to come by for both teams, the game remained tight with George-Little Rock taking a 1 point lead with less than a minute remaining. Wolves sophomore Katherin Ihnen hit two free throws to put HLP up 39-38. That would be the difference, as Harris-Lake Park would hold on for the win. Noreen Morrow finished in double figures with 11. Teyha Graham led George-Little Rock with 13. The HLP girls improve their record to 7-4.
Meanwhile, the boys’ game saw Harris-Lake Park playing catch up for most of the game with George-Little Rock. The Wolves found themselves in foul trouble in the second half, and the Mustangs took advantage with senior Jesse Koerselman scoring 18 of his 20 points after halftime en route to a 59-43 win. HLP was paced by Brady Van Iperen with 12. The loss puts Harris-Lake Park’s record at 5-3. The Wolves are on the road tonight to face Clay Central Everly. George-Little Rock is at home tonight against Central Lyon.
