HLP Runs Away With Win, Okoboji Falls on the Road (Baseball RoundUp)(UPDATED)

Harris-Lake Park notched a lopsided non-conference baseball win Wednesday, taking down Trinity Christian 15-5. Eli Ihnen struck out ten batters and limited Trinity to just four hits. HLP tallied 16 hits of their own, led by Ihnen’s two hits and four RBI. Colin Brons drove in three runs on two hits, and Tanner Hiveley registered a pair of runs batted in on three hits. The Wolves now sit at 5-14 overall.

Spirit Lake split a Lakes Conference doubleheader at LeMars on Wednesday. The Bulldogs won game one 8-3. Mitch Peschon took the loss on the hill for the Indians. Spirit Lake rebounded with a 13-3 victory behind a pair of long balls in the nightcap. Paul Brown placed one home run beyond the fences to help his own cause, as he was the game’s winning pitcher. Cody Poock did most of the damage with a grand slam. The Indians are 8-3 in the league and 18-6 overall. They travel to Emmetsburg on Thursday for another conference game, which will be broadcast live on Y100 and online at ExploreOkoboji.com.

Also in the Lakes Conference, Western Christian needed just five innings to dispatch Emmetsburg on Wednesday by a 14-1 final. The Wolfpack smacked five home runs in the game, three of which came off the bat of Marcus DeJager. He finished the game with eight RBI. Tyler Henderson paced the E-Hawks with a hit and the lone run driven in. Ryan Kliegl took the loss as Emmetsburg drops to 0-11 in the league and now 4-15 on the season. They host Spirit Lake on Thursday, a game that will be broadcast live on Y100 and online at ExploreOkoboji.com.

Spencer got the W in a high-scoring contest with Estherville-Lincoln Central, 10-9.

Okoboji was unable to dent the scoreboard on the road Wednesday, taking a 4-0 setback at Manson Northwest Webster. The Pioneers sit at 7-15 overall.

Elsewhere in the Siouxland, Central Lyon and Sibley-Ocheyedan needed extra innings to determine a winner, and in the end the Lions defeated the Generals 7-4 in nine.
