HLP, GT, ELC Part of Midgets Volleyball Invite (Volleyball RoundUp)

Estherville-Lincoln Central hosted an eight-team volleyball invitational on Saturday. Harris-Lake Park finished with a 3-2 record and in third place. The Wolves beat Emmetsburg (21-15, 15-21, 15-13) and Storm Lake (21-13, 21-15) in pool play, while also suffering a setback to Laurens-Marathon (10-21, 21-14, 15-11). In the semifinals, HLP dropped a two-set match to Humboldt (25-13, 25-20), before avenging their previous loss to Laurens-Marathon with a W in the consolation match (23-25, 26-24, 15-5). Noreen Morrow racked up 43 kills, Leah Duitsman had 25 kills and 36 digs, and Macy Gunderson handed out 82 assists. Harris-Lake Park is now 11-12 on the season.

Graettinger-Terril was unable to make it out of pool play despite hanging tough in some highly competitive matches. The Knights fell to the Midgets (17-21, 21-13, 19-17), Sioux City West (21-19, 21-11), and Humboldt (21-9, 21-10). Nikki Brown had a team-high twelve kills and Hailley Nelson registered 17 assists.

Both ELC and Humboldt finished with 4-1 records, each taking a match against the other, meanwhile, Emmetsburg went winless at 0-3.

The Spencer Tigers traveled to Urbandale to square off against some of the state’s elite volleyball teams. They finished the tournament 1-2, taking a two-set victory over Des Moines East (21-19, 21-19). The losses came against Ames (25-11, 25-11) and fourth-ranked Urbandale (21-19, 21-14).
