On the golf course, Harris-Lake Park opened the Cornbelt Conference schedule with a triangular in Spencer against Clay Central-Everly and Sioux Central. The Wolves earned the team title in the boys competition with a collective score of 171. The Rebels were second at 197 and Mavericks third with a 204. Nathan Kyle registered an impressive round of 38 to grab medalist honors for HLP, which also counted a 43 by Tanner Hiveley, and a pair of 45’s from Connor Gunderson and Ryan Gembler.
The girls triangular belonged to Sioux Central, whose team score of 207 beat Harris-Lake Park by nine strokes (216). CCE shot a 221. Macy Gunderson’s round of 53 paced the Lady Wolves, followed by 54’s from Amanda Hibma and Rachel Vellema, and a 55 on the card of Emily Anderson.
Despite a depleted varsity roster, the Spirit Lake girls golf team picked up a non-conference dual win, downing North Union, 204-222, on Tuesday at Okoboji View. Whitney Berkland was tops on the leaderboard with a 43. The Indians also received a 52 from Abby Goodenow, a 54 by Mackenzie Veldman, and a 55 from Kelsa Berkland. The Warriors were led by Brooke Baxter’s round of 49.
