Two area schools split conference doubleheaders on the road Monday night. In the Cornbelt Conference, Harris-Lake Park dominated CWL, 57-19, in taking the boys’ game. The sixth-ranked Wolves are a perfect 16-0 this season, including eight wins in conference. They host rival Clay Central-Everly on Tuesday, with coverage on Q102.
The other half of the twinbill saw HLP fall for the sixth straight game, dropping a tight 39-38 ballgame. The Lady Wolves sit at 6-11 overall and 5-4 in the league. They will also be on Q102 against CCE this evening.
Down in Hawarden, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn took on West Sioux in a War Eagle Conference doubleheader. The Hawks earned a 42-34 boys win to improve to 7-11 overall and 4-5 in conference games. They travel to rival South O’Brien on Tuesday, with coverage on Y100.
HMS had trouble keeping up with West Sioux in the girls’ matchup, falling 58-39. It puts the Hawks at 8-10 on the year and 4-5 in the league. They will also be on Y100 Tuesday against the rival Wolverines in Paullina.
North of the border, Fairmont swept a pair of games with Minnesota Valley Lutheran. The boys earned a 57-47 home win, while the girls secured a 63-53 decision on the road.
