Plenty of area teams in action on the golf course. Spirit Lake boys and girls hosted a triangular with Estherville Lincoln Central and Harris-Lake Park. The Midgets won the boys half of the night with a team score of 168, while HLP took second at 176, and Spirit Lake third with a 179. The Indians Matt Weeks and ELC’s Max Brashear tied for medalist honors with two-over-par 38s. The Wolves’ Nathan Kyle finished a stroke back with a 39. On the girls side, Spirit Lake dominated with a 180, 50 strokes better than Estherville Lincoln Central’s 230. Harris-Lake Park had a 239. Maureen Owens of Spirit Lake was the top scorer at 41, and teammate Mikayla Weeks shot a 45.
The Siouxland Conference boys met at Rock Valley for their boys golf tour match, and Okoboji notched its second consecutive win. The Pioneers combined for a 155, with MOC-Floyd Valley in second at 161. Matt Ohl was top dog with a 37 and teammates Matt Baschke and Caden Thurgood were part of a four-way tie for second at 38. Okoboji is now within three points of MOC-Floyd Valley in the standings. The Siouxland girls were at Sioux Center, and MOC-Floyd Valley outplayed Okoboji by 18 strokes, firing a team score of 176 to the Pioneers 194. Kiley Wermersen and Kristina Kaiser of Okoboji both shot 44’s to tie for third place.
Graettinger-Terril boys golf outlasted Clay Central Everly by three strokes, shooting a season-low 163. CCE’s Alex Thorne captured medalist honors due to a handicap hole after matching G-T’s Blaze Alesch with a 36. Cody Dyhrkopp was a shot behind at 37.
