All kinds of high school football action, last night, and Spirit Lake,
ranked number three in Class 2A by the Associated Press, beat ninth ranked Forest City,
on the road, 17-0.

Lake senior running back Cody
Poock had 20 carries for 122 yards, to pace the Indians offensively. Senior Tyler Petersen scored on a 31-yard
touchdown pass from Paul Brown to give Spirit
Lake a 7-0 second quarter lead, he
then picked off Forest City quarterback Tate Thompson, on Forest City’s
next possession, to set up a 42-yard filed goal by Spirit Lake
senior Brett Cochran Bray.
Senior Casey Spaeth sealed the win, for the Indians, with a
58-yard punt return for a touchdown, in the third quarter.
The Indians are now 3-0, and host Garner-Hayfield/Ventura,
in their homecoming game, next Friday.
Emmetsburg jumped out to an early lead on North
Union, as Andrew Wellik scored on a 19-yard touchdown run, 56
seconds in to the game, and the E-Hawks never looked back. Final score: Emmetsburg 59, North
Union 6. Wellik finished
with 267 yards rushing, and five touchdowns.
Hartley-Melvin Sanborn has yet to give up any points, this
season, as they shut out Okobji 56-0. Gehlen
lost to South O’Brien 35-7. Estherville
Lincoln Central beat East
Sac County,
42-22.
Alta Aurelia blanked Sibley-Ocheydan, 14-0. In 8-man foot ball Harris Lake
Park topped Remsen Union,
44-40, and Whiting beat Clay Central/Everly, 48-28.
In Minnesota, Jackson
County Central shut out Worthington,
48-0.
