High School Basketball Results from Dec. 14

The Okoboji Girls Basketball team improved to 6-2, last
night, as the Lady Pioneers used an effective pressure defense to get
Boyden-Hull to commit 24 turnovers en route to a 48-26 victory in Hull.  Freshman Megan Peschong came off the bench to
score 10 to lead Okoboji.

 

The Spirit Lake Girls basketball team fell 6-2, last night,
after they were beaten, 57-35, by Western Christian.  The Lady Indians trailed by just four, 28-24,
at halftime, but the Lady Wolfpack outscored Spirit Lake, 18-2, in a decisive
third quarter to pull away for the win.

 

The Emmetsburg Girls topped Storm Lake,
31-23, last night.  The Lady E-Hawks led
8 – 0 after the first quarter and maintained that lead throughout. 
Emmetsburg got 10 points a piece from Ashton Connelly and Alexa Naig and picked
up their first win of the season.  Storm Lake
has now lost 50 games in a row.

 

Elsewhere, North Union knocked off Harris-Lake Park,
49-35.  Estherville-Lincoln Central
trounced Cherokk, 61-13.  Gehlen Catholic
downed Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, 38-31, and LeMars edged Spencer, 39-35.

 

 

The Okoboji boys fell to Boyden-Hull, as the Comets took advantage
of Okoboji turnovers and outscored the Pioneers 21-7 in the third
quarter to pick up a 68-43 win.

 

Spirit
Lake lost to Western
Christian, 51-39.  The Indians trailed by
just one at halftime, 20-19, but were outscored 17-7, in the third
quarter.  Michael DenHerder scored nine
of his game-high 19 points in the third. 
Alec Henrickson led Spirit
Lake with 18 points.

 

Spirit
Lake is on the road,
today, against Corwith-
Wesley-Luverne.

Storm
Lake knocked off
Emmetsburg, 54-42.  The Tornadoes were
led by Ethan Kenkel with 19 points, Emmetsburg got 15 from Jake Jackson. 

 

Elsewhere, Harris-Lake
Park ran away from North
Union, 78-30. 
Estherville-Lincoln Central edged Cherokee, 64-58.  Gehlen Catholic downed Hartley Melvin
Sanborn, 61-42.  LeMars beat Spencer, in
double overtime, 86-80.  Central Lyon topped Sibley-Ocheydan, 46-35.  Unity Christian got by South O’Brien, 51-50.
