Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Girls Blown Out; Boys Drop Heartbreaker

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn began its 2010 slate at home on Monday night, facing a Sioux Central Sioux Rapids team that they had played well against in the past. But over a quarter and a half, the Rebels outscored the HMS Hawks 34-12, en route to a 70-36 win.

Stefanie Heitritter led the Hawks with 11 for the seventh double figure effort in her senior campaign. HMS (3-6, 1-4 War Eagle Conference) returns to conference play on Tuesday, heading to Hinton.

BOYS

For the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Hawks and the Sioux Central, Sioux Rapids Rebels, it would a be a tight one from start to finish as both clubs looked to snap two-game losing streaks. The Hawks and Rebels deadlocked 10 times, exchanged the lead on 11 occasions, and stayed within 12 points of each other all night. But Sioux Central would come out on top 54-50. Head coach Mike Ewen knew that the main factor which really told the story was the 30 turnovers that has team committed. HMS (3-2, War Eagle conference) heads to Hinton on Tuesday to continue league play.
