Half-dozen Hawkeyes Headed to NFL, One From ISU

Six former Hawkeyes were selected in the recent NFL Draft, tying Penn State for the most of any Big Ten school. Linebacker A.J. Edds (eedz) of Iowa was taken by the Miami Dolphins in the fourth round. The Buffalo Bills took Iowa offensive lineman Kyle Calloway with a seventh-round pick. Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga (Green Bay Packers), linebacker Pat Angerer (Indianapolis Colts), cornerback Amari Spievey (Detroit Lions), and tight end Tony Moeaki (Kansas City Chiefs) were all taken in the first three rounds. The Cincinnati Bengals used their final draft pick on Iowa State offensive lineman Reggie Stephens.

On the college ball diamond, the Hawkeyes were unable to complete the series sweep of Michigan, falling 7-5 on Saturday. The Iowa softball team was swept at Penn State by scores of 7-1 and 5-2. Iowa State was also swept in softball, losing 9-7 on a walk-off homer at Baylor on Saturday, then again on Sunday 4-1.
