GT/RA Swept in Non-Cornbelt Doubleheader (Basketball RoundUp)

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire battled Laurens-Marathon in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday in Graettinger, one that the Chargers would end up sweeping over the Knights. One basket separated the girls’ teams, with the Knights falling 36-34. Brooke Hoffman had a team-high 15 points and Alesha Sikora was right behind with thirteen. GT/RA is now 3-5 overall this season. The boys contest was more one-sided, with Laurens-Marathon winning by a 66-34 margin. The loss drops the Knights to 1-5. Both squads take on Trinity Christian on Tuesday in Ruthven.

Elsewhere, Storm Lake topped Humboldt in a boys non-conference game, 85-77. North of the border, the Fairmont boys needed overtime to defeat St. Peter, 81-77, and Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin topped Round Lake-Brewster, 59-47.

In girls hoops, Boyden-Hull earned a Siouxland Conference win, sneaking past George-Little Rock, 37-35. In Minnesota, Martin County West took down rival Martin Luther, 61-52, and Worthington lost to Marshall, 75-63.
