Many area high schools participated in the Great Lakes Track Invite on Tuesday. The overall team competition was won by the Algona boys team with 150 points, 45 more than second place Spirit Lake. Storm Lake took third, Spencer fourth, Okoboji fifth, Emmetsburg sixth and Estherville Lincoln Central seventh. Alec Baldwin earned first place honors in the 3200 (10:07.84) and 800 (2:01.02) meter runs for the Indians. Kyle Heidebrink also won two individual events, the 400 (56.20) and 110 (15.44) meter hurdles. Luke Kabele grabbed the gold in the 200 (23.38) meter dash and Spirit Lake broke the tape first in the Shuttle Hurdle,with Aric Waltz, DJ Smith, Rick Wilson, and Heidebrink setting a new school record of 1:00.33. Okoboji came away with five top three finishes, highlighted by Alex Koepp, Brian Dubois, Billy Burgduff, and Austin Millard to the silver medal in the team medley (3:49.07).
