Iowa State coach Greg McDermott will return for a fifth season, however senior forward Marquis Gilstrap won’t be back after the NCAA denied his appeal for another season. McDermott also announced today that junior forward Craig Brackins will skip his final year of eligibility and enter the NBA draft. Brackins, a 6-foot-10 forward from Palmdale, Calif., averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season as the Cyclones finished 15-17. Brackins nearly left for the NBA last spring before deciding to return to school. In Friday’s announcement, Iowa State also says center Justin Hamilton and guard Dominique Buckley will transfer.
