Spirit Lake defeated Storm Lake 52 – 16 on week 2. They unofficially had 377 yards of total offense. 203 yards came on the ground and 174 thru the air. Cody Poock led them on the ground with 94 yards and a TD. Paul Brown also had 2 short touchdown runs and he as 10 – 14 thru the air for 140 yards. Spirit Lake is now 2 – 0 and will be at Forest City next Friday

Sibley-Ocheyedan got a safety late in the first half and then tacked on a 7 yard touchdown run by junior Dalton Frick to come away with an 8-0 victory over Okoboji on Friday night in Milford. The Frick touchdown capped off a 10 play, 72 yard drive midway through the 3rd quarter for the Generals who were led by senior Dylan Brockshus on the ground. He had 91 yards on 17 carries. Junior quarterback Owen Wiese rushed for 58 yards on 14 carries to go along with 133 yards through the air (4-for-15), as the Generals improved to 1-1 on the season. They host Alta-Aurelia next week to open Class A, District 1. For Okoboji, who was playing in their first home varsity football game in almost 22 months, junior Gabe Goehring came into the game in the second half and rushed for 78 yards on 11 carries. The Pioneers had a total of 111 yards on the ground and forced two Sibley-Ocheyedan turnovers. Okoboji falls to 0-2 and host Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn to open up district play next week in Class 1A, District 1. That game can be heard on Q102 and ExploreOkoboji.com.

Boyden Hull Rock Valley defeated Emmetsburg on Friday night, 34 – 14. BHRV scored just 3 minutes into the game as SR. quarterback Brandt Van Roekel threw a 31 yard touchdown pass to Jerod Hansen to go up 6 – 0. They would add another before the end of the 1st. Emmetsburg would score a touchdown right before half and the scored would be 27 – 7 BHRV. Both teams would score a touchdown in the 4th and the final would be the 20 point difference for the Nighthawks. Van Roekel finished with 197 yards passing and 3 touchdowns and also rushed for 80 yards. Emmetsburg was led by Andrew Wellik with 143 yards and a touchdown. Boyden Hull Rock Valley is 2 – 0 while Emmetsburg drops to 1 – 1 and will be at North Union next Friday
