Friday Baseball and Softball Results

The Okoboji Pioneers bats remained quiet in a 12-2 loss in six innings Friday night in high school baseball. Okoboji recorded three hits against Alta-Aurelia’s Ryan Freiderich, who struck out 11. The Pioneers now have 11 total base hits through three games and a 1-2 record. Also last night, George-Little Rock bested Harris-Lake Park in commanding fashion, with a 14-1 win in six innings.

On the softball diamond, Spirit Lake ended their first week of play with a 4-1 record after Friday’s 10-0 beating of Clay Central-Everly in five innings. Cara Vale again notched the win, while Paige Krause an Lindsey Arneson both drove in two runs. Okoboji took down George-Little Rock-Central Lyon by a 9-2 final last night. And Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn needed just four innings to beat Unity Christian 13-1. Kayla Orthmann was the winning pitcher and also had four-RBI on 2-for-4 hitting. Stafanie Heitritter was a perfect 3-of-3 at the plate with three runs scored and a RBI.
