Five-run lead not enough, Spencer falls in district final (Postseason Baseball RoundUp)

A resurgent Spencer baseball team had the Lakes Conference
champions against the ropes in Monday’s Class 3A Substate, however, LeMars
rallied from five down to beat the Tigers, 6-5. Spencer scored three runs in
the first inning, before adding on two more in the third. The game turned in
the fourth when the Bulldogs finally got to Tigers starter Weston Glienke,
scoring four runs. In the fifth, LeMars mustered up two more runs to assume the
lead. Glienke took the loss after allowing eight hits and six runs with five strikeouts. Chase Habben drove in three runs on 2-for-3 hitting. Blake Seier and
Austin Allen both had a RBI and a run scored. Spencer caps the season with 16
wins and 14 losses. Chris Eckstaine picked up the win in relief of Parker
Rolfes. LeMars, with a 28-6 record, will play again Wednesday in the substate
final against fourth-ranked Sioux City Bishop Heelan. The Crusaders eliminated
Humboldt, 9-2. The substate game will be played in Sioux City at 7pm.
