Fall Sports Teams Ready at Okoboji

Fans of Okoboji athletics got their first look at this fall’s squads during the seasonal Sports Preview held at Okoboji High School last night. The event was put on by the Okoboji Booster Club and the school’s athletic department. The volleyball team begins their season at the Spencer Invitational on August 25. A week later the boys and girls cross country teams will return to Woodlyn Hills for their opening meet on September 1. The boy’s team has all its runners back and the girls feature all but one from last fall. Both teams finished sixth in the Siouxland Conference in 2010 and both return their frontline runners. The event also featured a scrimmage of the Okoboji JV football team, which has 34 student-athletes participating, and was capped off with a speech and presentation from Harlan High School athletic director and basketball coach, Mitch Osborn.
