Two area high school golf teams put together good enough scores in Friday’s District play to qualify for the state golf meet. In Class 2A, Emmetsburg compiled a 339 team score in Storm Lake to secure a spot at state. The E-Hawks will send seniors Ben McCain, Arthur Heldt, and Tyler Clasing, along with sophomore Jake Jackson and freshmen Mike Pugh and Mike Myers to compete at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore.
Spencer secured their spot at state in Class 3A with a 327 team score at the Carroll district. The Tigers team consists of Jay Monahan, John Labernik, Zach Carlson, Sam DeLoss, Marcus Knipe, and Lee Beneke. They will play at Ames Golf and Country Club.
The boys state golf meets are held Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28.
