An early season softball showdown between Spirit Lake and Emmetsburg went the way of the EHawks in a 5-0 shutout win. Maddison Woodruff hurled a two hitter with eight K’s and a walk for Emmetsburg. Sisters Jenny and Janna Hoch combined for three RBI against Spirit Lake’s Cara Vale. Emmetsburg improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Lakes Conference, while Spirit Lake is 4-3 overall and winless in league games.
Also last night, West Lyon topped Okoboji in softball by a 5-4 final in five innings.
