Emmetsburg Defeats Pocahontas In Baseball

 
Emmetsburg hosted Pocahontas in baseball on Tuesday
night and the Indians would score the first 2 runs of the game in the first
inning thanks to a 2 run homerun by Sam Brinkman.  Pocahontas would add another
in the 3rd inning before Emmetsburg would score 3 in the bottom of the 3rd to
tie it up.  Pocahontas reclaimed the lead scoring a run in the 5th inning and
then Emmetsburg would answer with 2 runs in the bottom and hold on for the 5-4
victory.
 
Emmetsburg scored 5 runs on 8 hits.  They were led
by their 6 – 8 hitters who went a comined 6 – 11.  Wes Schultes was 2 – 3 with 4
RBI’s.  Pocahontas scored 4 runs on 6 hits and were led by Tanner Anderson as he
went 2 – 3 with 2 RBI’s and Sam Brinkman had a 2 run homerun.  The winning
pitcher was Zach Anderson going 5 1/3 allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 3 K’s and 3
BB’s.  The losing pitcher was Dan Proctor going 4 innings giving up 5 runs on 8
hits.
 
The E’hawks improve to 5 – 4 on the season and will
be at Cherokee Wednesday.  The Indians fall to 2 – 6 and will be at Manson
Wednesday.
