It was a close game between Emmetsburg and Cherokee until the 4th quarter when Emmetsburg outscored Cherokee 15 – 7 to open up a 2 point lead into a 10 point victory by the score of 47 – 37. Emmetsburg had 3 players in double figures led by Alexa Naig with 16, Ashton Connelly with 13 and Bailey Naig with 10. Cherokee was led by Kaely Hummel and a game high 20 points.
Emmetsburg improves to 5 – 4, 4 – 2 and will be at North Union Monday on Y 100. Cherokee falls to 4 – 6, 2 – 4 and will host HMS Monday.
Boys
The nightcap between the E’hawks and the Braves was dominated by Emmetsburg from the beginning. Emmetsburg opened up the game leading 18 – 10 after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, Emmetsburg held Cherokee to 2 points and led by 15 at halftime. It would continue in the 2nd half and Emmetsburg would defeat Cherokee 61 – 35. Emmetsburg was led by Erik Drost and his game high 22 points. Cherokee was led by Jose Freed with 11.
Emmetsburg improves to 4 – 5, 2 – 4 and will be at North Union Monday. Cherokee remains winless at 0 – 10, 0 – 6.
