ELC Girls Knock Off Spirit Lake, 51-36; SL Boys Win 58-46

The Estherville-Lincoln Central Girls basketball team got 19
points from Allie Sievert and 13 from Emily Kirchner, as they beat Spirit Lake,
51-36, last night.

 

Kirchner scored the 1,000th point of her high
school career in the third quarter of last night’s game, joining Sievert, as
the second current player on ELC roster to reach that milestone. 

 

K.J. Veldman scored 26 points to lead the Indians, who are
now 11-7, overall and 7-5 in the Lakes Conference.  Here’s their coach Rick Reinking.

The Spirit
Lake boys held off a
pesky ELC team, and beat the Midgets, 58-46, behind 19 points from Alec
Henrickson, ten from Zach Arneson, and eight points apiece from Paul Brown and
Alex Pringnitz.

Emmetsburg, on Friday, coverage of the girls game starts at 6 on KUOO.

 

The E-Hawks were in Hull,
last night, to face Western Christian, and the girls fell to the Wolfpack,
66-28.  The Emmetsburg boys were defeated
69-41.

 

The girls game was tied at 4 – 4 midway thru the 1st
quarter and then HWC would go on a 7 – 0 run to lead 11 – 4 after 1 and never
look back.  It was a 20 point lead at half and HWC exploded to go up by 35
after 3 quarters.  10 different players scored for the Wolfpack as they
were led by Brooke Wolterstorff with 18 points.  Emmetsburg was led by
Ashton Connelly with 14 points.

 

The Emmetsburg boys kept it close in the first quarter.  HWC led 16 – 14 after one quarter of play,
but they would outscore the E’hawks 24 – 11 in the 2nd to go up by
15 at half.  They would increase their led in the 3rd as they
outscored Emmetsburg 14 – 5 and it was a 24 point game going into the final
quarter.  The wolfpack had 9 different players score, led by Kyle Fopma
with 11.  Emmetsburg got 21 from Jake Jackson and 11 from Erik Drost
