Estherville-Lincoln Central defeated North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted, 45-28, on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals Friday against Clarion-Goldfield. The second-ranked Midgets tipoff at 7pm in Algona. In other Class 2A girls basketball, Sioux Central won over Sheldon, 56-53, while Western Christian dominated Sibley Ocheyedan by a 70-39. The Rebels and Wolpack will square off Friday in Sheldon. Cherokee upended Unity Christian, 69 – 36.
In class 1A girls basketball, Clay Central Everly defeated North Iowa, 50-47. Eleventh-ranked Central Lyon took down No. 10 Boyden-Hull, 34-29. The Mavericks and Lions will face each other in a semifinal on Friday in Lake Park. Also, Algona Bishop Garrigan got by West Bend-Mallard, 34-28, setting up a third round matchup against Lemars Gehlen Catholic. LGC needed double overtime to advance past Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn, 61-52.
