ELC Clinches Lakes Title Over Indians, Pioneers Fall Late Again (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

Estherville Lincoln Central put the finishing touches on a Lakes Conference girls basketball title, courtesy of a 54-37 win at Spirit Lake on Friday. Casey Sievert came off the bench to score 17 for the Midgets. The Indians were led by KJ Veldman’s 23 points, which included three triples. ELC has a record of 11-1 in conference, while Spirit Lake falls to 13-5 overall and 9-4 in the league.

A 21-point advantage for Western Christian at halftime proved to be enough as the Wolfpack took down Emmetsburg 49-36. Paige Naig led the E-Hawks with eleven points. Emmetsburg is now 4-9 in the Lakes Conference.

Okoboji nearly turned an 18-point halftime deficit into a Siouxland Conference win last night, but ultimately fell 34-28 at home to Boyden-Hull. The Pioneers used a 10-0 run to pull within four late. Taylor Poppema and Skylar Hanson each dropped in seven points in the losing effort. Okoboji is now 4-15 overall and 1-14 in conference.
