E-Hawks Dominate Wolves, Pioneers Hand Over Win to Lions, Midgets Stay Perfect (Girls Basketball RoundUp)

A rough shooting night doomed the girls of Harris-Lake Park in a non-conference matchup at Emmetsburg Monday night, scoring five points or less in every quarter on their way to a lopsided 50-17 defeat. Noreen Morrow dropped in all but five of the Lady Wolves’ points, finishing with twelve. The Naig sisters combined for 26 points to pace the E-Hawks, with Alexa scoring 14 points and Paige twelve. Emmetsburg did their part defensively, created 21 turnovers by HLP, while only committing eight miscues themselves. HLP is off until Friday when North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted comes to Lake Park. The Wolves are 3-3 this season. Emmetsburg, at 4-1, hosts rival Spencer tonight for a key showdown in the Lakes Conference, which can be heard on Y100.

Turnovers limited the Okoboji girls in a road game at Central Lyon last night, resulting in a one-sided 52-36 win by the 13th-ranked Lions. The Pioneers handed the ball over 29 times, and trailed 34-12 at the half. Skylar Hanson dropped in a team-high nine points, while Hannah Marsh had eight points. The Pioneers will put their 3-4 record on the line Friday against Rock Valley. That contest can be heard on Q102.

Estherville-Lincoln Central’s girls basketball team tried to pull off the unthinkable Monday night, pitch a shutout for an entire game. They nearly succeeded, beating North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted 68-23 after leading 29-0 at the half. Allie Sievert was tops in scoring for the second-ranked Midgets with thirteen points. ELC is a perfect 7-0 heading into tonight’s game with winless Storm Lake. NSK/AR boasts a 4-2 mark with Clay Central-Everly visiting Fenton this evening.
