The Spirit Lake Indians will host Sheldon, this Monday night,
after the Indians defeated MOC-Floyd
Valley, 24-0, last night
in the Opening Round of Class 2A District Playoffs.
Bolluyt on early offensive rhythm
That’s Spirit Lake Coach Josh Bolluyt, whose team took its
first lead midway through the first quarter when senior kicker Brett
Cochran-Bray connected on a 36-yard field goal.
Tyler Petersen scored the Indians’ first touchdown, in the second
quarter, as he took a handoff and raced 77-yards down the right sidelines for a
touchdown.
Sheldon advanced by knocking off Forest City,
15-14, after a successful two-point conversion in overtime. You can hear Monday’s game on Campus Radio

In Class 1A District playoffs, Emmetsburg beat Ridge View,
41-0. The E-Hawks scored on the
first play from scrimmage, thanks to a 69 yard touchdown run from Andrew
Wellik. He scored three touchdowns in the game and finished with145 yards
rushing. It puts him over 2,000 yards rushing for the season.
Emmetsburg is now 9 – 1 and will host Fort Dodge St. Edmond,
on Monday. They beat Western Christian,
41-7, last night. You can hear Monday’s

In other Class 1A action, South O’Brien beat Manson
Northwest Webster, 34-12. On Monday, they’ll
take on IKM Manning, who beat Hartley-Melvin Sanborn, 18-7, last night.
In 8-Man Districts, Harris-Lake Park held on for
a 14-6 win over North Iowa, in Lake
Park. The two teams were
held scoreless in the first quarter, but the Wolves struck first in the second.
Senior Kade Heikens caught a pass and then ran for a 56 yard touchdown. HLP
added to their lead on the first drive of the third quarter. Senior quarterback
Colin Brons threw an 8 yard touchdown pass to senior Eli Ihnen. The score
remained 14-0 until 3:12 in the fourth quarter, when Senior Frank Campos found
the end zone for the Bison with a 3 yard run. North Iowa
missed their extra point to make the score 14-6.
The Bison would get the ball back
with 1:36 in the fourth and drove down to the Wolves 33 yard line but sophomore
Javier Tapia came up with a sack on fourth down to secure the victory. The
Wolves had five sacks on the night and stopped the Bison on fourth down five
times. Senior Tanner Hiveley and freshman Dahlton Burdorf each had
interceptions for HLP, who improves to 8-2 on the season.

They will travel to Newell-Fonda
on Monday night to take on the Mustangs, who defeated River Valley

Spencer topped ADM, Adel, 48-19, in Class 3A Districts. They’ll face Bishop Heelan Catholic on
Monday.
