Iowa Gov. Chet Culver has offered congratulations to the women’s basketball teams from the University of Northern Iowa, Iowa State University and the University of Iowa. All three teams are headed to the NCAA tournament. In a statement Tuesday, the governor called it a “great year” for Iowa women’s basketball. Culver says the players for the Panthers, Cyclones and Hawkeyes represent “skill and athleticism.” He says Iowans everywhere wish the teams all the best.
Culver came back two days later and extended his congratulations for the Northern Iowa men after their first-round win. Culver said in a statement that “there’s no better way to begin March Madness than with this exciting victory over UNLV.” The Iowa governor says he wishes the Panthers the “best of luck” as they continue in the tournament.
