Conference Dual Victories for SLP (Wrestling RoundUp) (UPDATED)

Spirit Lake Park wrestling tallied two more dual victories Thursday, both coming in conference play as the Indians downed Emmetsburg and Storm Lake in a home triangular. The Indians earned a 63-18 victory over the Tornadoes, and a 51-30 win against the E-Hawks. SLP registered 14 pin fall victories in their 28 matches, along with six additional wins by forfeit and two by decision. Isaac Lundgren (138), Dylan Bryce (145), and Rick Maris (160 & 170) each had a pair of wins by fall. Doug Miner (113), Zach Skopec (120), Sam Bosma (126), Kenton Murray (132), Mark Norland (160), Jacob Jenness (182), Nathan Kyle (220), and Cody Norton (285) also had pins. The sixth-ranked Indians remain perfect in dual meets and host their own dual invitational Friday.

In other Lakes Conference wrestling, defending champ Spencer and Estherville-Lincoln Central both competed in a triangular at Cherokee. The Tigers won both of their duals, downing the Midgets in a close match, 47-36. ELC was able to put a notch in the win column by taking their dual with the Braves, 53-18.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn went 1-1 in a pair of dual matches Thursday, falling to Sibley-Ocheyedan and defeating Western Christian. The Generals took down HMS, 51-24, in a match that featured three pin fall victories for both teams. Brent Reed (113), Taylor Block (160), and Patrick Coleman (285) did so for Sibley-Ocheyedan, while Dakota Goodvin (120), Nick Drenth (126) and Brett Flynn (152) earned them for HMS. The Generals also notched three more victories by decision and four via forfeit. The other dual was a much tighter, with the Hawks defeating the Wolfpack, 40-39. HMS notched three more pins by Joseph Rivera (113), Dakota Drenth (145), and another by Flynn.

North of the border, several heavyweight wrestling programs squared off at the Lamberton Invitational. Top-ranked Jackson County Central defeated second-ranked Wabasso/Red Rock Central, 37-24, which was preceded by a narrow 32-31 dual victory over sixth-ranked Adrian.
