The Spirit Lake girls basketball team improved to 15 – 6 on the season after defeating Spencer 42 – 27 in a Class 3A Girls Quarterfinal basketball game. Spencer led 10 – 7 after the 1st quarter but Spirit Lake would outscore the Tigers 35 – 17 the rest of the way. Spirit Lake was led by KJ Veldman with 24 points. Spencer was led by Ashley Williamson with 12 points. Spencer finishes the season at 11 – 11 and Spirit Lake will now take on MOC FV in a regional semifinal on Saturday night. The Dutch beat Lemars 67 – 49. Elsewhere in Class 3A Algona beat Humbolt 51 – 26 and S.C. Heelan beat Storm Lake 92 – 24
