In a rematch of a May 6th contest, the Spencer Tigers hosted the Storm Lake Tornadoes in a Class 2A boys substate soccer game on Saturday. The winner advances to state to play Thursday in Des Moines.
In the first meeting between the two schools, Spencer defeated Storm Lake 2-1 on kicks back on May 6th in Spencer. The second time around, Storm Lake held the #1 team scoreless and defeated Spencer 1-0 to advance to their first ever boys state soccer tournament.
Storm Lake is the #6 seed in the tourney and will play Thursday May 30th at 2:45 PM against #3 seed Mount Pleasant. SL is 13-1 and MP is 13-3.
The boys state soccer tournament will be held at the Cownie Soccer Park in Des Moines
