West Bend-Mallard defeated Clay Central Everly on Saturday to advance to a substate in Class 1A. The wolverines downed the mavericks 5 – 3. Next up will be Mason City Newman Catholic as they beat Algona Garrigan 4 – 1. The substate will be held at the Algona Garrigan baseball field on Tuesday. West Bend-Mallard is 16 – 11 and M.C Newman Catholic is 33 – 4. First pitch at 7 PM.
Other scores in Class 1A had Kingsley-Pierson beating Marcus-Meridan-Cleghorn 8 – 5 and George-Little Rock beat Granville-Spalding 5 – 2.
