The Boyden-Hull Boys basketball team is Class 1A State Champions, for the
second year in a row, after the Comets beat St. Mary’s Storm Lake,
49-45, last night, in the title game. Riley Francis
led Boyden Hull with 20 points, Colin Bolkema scored 10.
In Class 2A, the Sheldon Orabs claimed the State Crown with a 48-36 win
over West Fork, Sheffield. Four Sheldon players scored in double
figures, led by Nate Oostra, with 12, Dallas Ennema, Chris Balster, and James
Gradert each scored 10.
MOC-Floyd Valley will play Assumption Davenport, in
the Class 3A consolation final, today at noon.
As for yesterday’s consolation finals, Carroll Kuemper Catholic beat M-F-L
Marmac, 80-52, in Class 2A. Danville knocked off
North Tama, Traer, 80-56, in Class 1A.
Tonight’s Class 3A Title game will feature Harlan and Waverly-Shell Rock. In Class 4A, it’ll be Bettendorf against Iowa City West.
