Area Track Results From Tuesday, April 28 (Updated)

Emmetsburg High School hosted its boys track relays yesterday and the Algona Bulldogs came away with the overall team title. They racked up 196 points, while Spirit Lake Park notched 150 points for a second-place finish. Emmetsburg came in third (86), Bishop Garrigan fourth (66) and Estherville Lincoln Central (48) fifth. Kyle Heidebrink paced the Indians with two individual first place finishes in the 110 (15.43) and 400 (56.91) meter hurdles, while also running the final leg of the first place team shuttle (1:00.66). Alec Baldwin also grabbed the gold in the 1600 (4:43.26) meter run and Luke Kabele (Cable) took top honors in the 200 (23.30) meter dash. SLP also had seven runner-up finishes and three thirds.

Okoboji hosted a boys varsity track triangular with Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn and Sioux Central. The Pioneers earned 181 points for the overall victory, with Sioux Central taking second and HMS third. Okoboji had seven first place finishes, that included Milan Johnson’s efforts in the 800 (2:01.70) and 1600 (4:57) meter runs, Austin Millard in the 400 (52.67) meter dash, David Brinkman in the 3200 (11:26) and Zach Jones with the best time (15:09) in the 110 hurdles, as well as golds in the 4×100, 4×800 and relay medley.

Sioux Central won the girls half of the Okoboji Relays, outscoring Spirit Lake Park 121.5 to 118.5. Emmetsburg came in third, Okoboji fifth, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn sixth. The Indians’ Megan Lawler set new school records in the 100 meter dash (12.36) and 200 meter dash (25.38), while also helping to take first in the sprint medley relay (1:57.25). McKenzie Dziedzic finished number one in 1500 (5:18.86) and 3000 (11:25.56) meter runs.
