Area Grapplers Cannot Hang at District Dual Tourneys (Wrestling RoundUp)

Trips to the state dual wrestling tournament in Des Moines were on the line last night. In Class 2A, Spirit Lake Park and Estherville-Lincoln Central traveled to Algona, and both would suffer setbacks in their opening dual matches. SLP dropped a 57-21 decision to Clear Lake, with Doug Miner, Mark Norland, and Nathan Kyle picking up wins by fall. ELC was out-performed by Forest City 58-6. Forest City went on to beat Clear Lake to take the District crown.

In Class 1A, Emmetsburg/Ruthven-Ayrshire hosted three other schools, including Graettinger-Terril, but the E-Hawks and Knights didn’t have enough to advance. Emmetsburg/Ruthven-Ayrshire lost 51-27 to eventual District champion Manson NW Webster, while G-T took a 47-25 setback against Clarion-Goldfield.
